Michael Lombardi
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Given his draft pedigree, above-average fastball and usable trio of secondaries, he projects as a mid-rotation starter if command and pitch efficiency improve to fringe-plus levels. The current strikeout production at a young age for the level is encouraging, but walk rate and WHIP suggest a realistic near-term path of refining fastball command and sharpening the curve/change separation. If the fastball maintains plus characteristics and the curve stays a consistent weapon while the changeup becomes reliable versus lefties, he could settle into a durable #3 type with occasional stretches of better performance. If command stalls in the below-average range, his stuff still fits comfortably in a late-inning bullpen role, where the fastball-curve combo could tick up and play as leverage relief. Health and workload management will be important as he continues transitioning from college relief usage to professional starter volume.
