Talon Haley
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Haley has the ingredients of a starter, led by a fastball that can get into the mid-90s and a breaking ball mix that has given him real bat-missing ability in pro ball. The ceiling is better than the draft slot suggests because the pure stuff is good enough to miss bats against advanced hitters, but the floor is pulled down by command that is still uneven for a young left-hander. If the strike throwing comes along enough to keep him in counts and let the changeup remain a usable third pitch, he can settle into a back-end rotation role. If not, the stuff still gives him a plausible path to the bullpen, where the curve and fastball could play up in shorter bursts.
