Kaleb Wing
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Given his current three-pitch mix and early ability to handle a starter’s workload, Wing projects most realistically as a mid-rotation type with some chance to land as a solid back-end starter if the changeup and command both reach average or better. The fastball/curve combo already flashes above-average, and with a moderate strength gain and continued refinement he could miss enough bats to avoid a pure pitch-to-contact profile. The main developmental path is tightening fastball command to all four quadrants while growing confidence in the changeup against left-handed hitters, which would stabilize his times through the order. If the frame doesn’t take much added strength or if the changeup stalls, he still has a reasonable floor as a multi-inning or swingman reliever who leans on a lively fastball and power breaker, but current indicators support a conservative #4 starter projection.
