Guzman’s most credible path is as a defense-first catcher whose arm, receiving, and blocking allow him to advance even if the bat remains fringy. The 2025 college performance and encouraging 2026 stretches show enough contact and pull power to keep the offensive question open, but the sample is not yet large enough to erase concerns about fastball contact and offensive consistency. If the receiving and throwing tools hold against better runners and pitchers, he can reach the upper minors and compete for a backup or shuttle role; a meaningful improvement in bat speed and all-field contact would be required for a sustained major-league job.
