Ty Harvey

Hitting scouting report · 80Grade

Scouting summary

Given his age, physical strength, and offensive-oriented catcher profile, Harvey projects most realistically as a bat-first backstop who could reach the majors if the hit tool and receiving both reach playable levels. The carrying tools are his raw power and arm strength, which give him a path to a second-division or role catcher ceiling if approach and contact quality tighten to near-average. More conservatively, the present swing-and-miss and only developing defensive skills point to an up-down outcome where he shuttles between Triple-A and the majors as depth. To beat that projection, he will need to improve both swing efficiency versus velocity and his day-to-day receiving, game-calling, and mobility. His injuries to date warrant monitoring but do not yet materially cap his long-term outlook if conditioning and durability hold.

Projected MLB role: up-down C
