Max Fried
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Max Fried has established himself as one of the premier starting pitchers in baseball. His exceptional command paired with elite movement on his curveball and multiple above-average secondary pitches creates a ceiling as a consistent ace-caliber performer capable of maintaining low ERAs through weak contact generation. The 2025 season demonstrated his ability to transfer that success to the American League immediately after free agency. His intelligent approach to pitch sequencing and continuous refinement of arsenal suggest sustained success is likely. Primary limitation is ceiling for premium strikeout volume, though his track record of run prevention and ground-ball generation provides high floor for fantasy and real-world performance. Best suited to continue as frontline starter capable of providing 190+ innings of elite-quality pitching annually if durability can be maintained.
