Cade Smith
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Elite high-leverage reliever and long-term closer for Cleveland Guardians. Fastball should remain effective for career duration given mechanical rather than velocity-based foundation for deceptiveness. Secondary pitch development suggests complete reliever capable of opponent adjustment. Durability profile and postseason performance indicate sustained elite-level performance across multiple seasons. Assuming continued command development and no significant mechanical changes, projects as plus-to-elite closer for next 5-7 years with multiple All-Star selections and Cy Young consideration potential. Home run rate variance in 2025 warrants monitoring but likely represents environmental factors rather than sustainable vulnerability.
