Garrett Crochet

Pitching scouting report · 80Grade

Scouting summary

Garrett Crochet projects as a front-of-the-rotation ace for Boston Red Sox over next 5-10 years. His combination of elite fastball velocity and movement, excellent command, competitive intensity, and willingness to evolve mechanically positions him to maintain top-tier performance even as he ages and potentially loses velocity incrementally. The primary variable affecting his trajectory is durability given Tommy John surgery history and compressed innings accumulation timeline. If he remains healthy, he possesses skills to potentially win multiple Cy Young awards and establish himself among baseball's elite left-handed starters. The Red Sox's mechanical adjustments appear designed for sustainability rather than maximum short-term output, suggesting organizational commitment to maximizing his long-term value. His intellectual engagement with pitching craft provides confidence that he will continue finding optimization avenues as velocity naturally declines across his career arc.
