Jonathon Long
Hitting scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Given his age, physical maturity, and corner-only defensive home, Long’s path to an MLB role is tied almost entirely to the bat. The likely outcome is a right-handed first baseman who can provide solid offensive production for a second-division club or platoon role, especially if he maintains his on-base skills and mid-range power. The ceiling is a lower-end everyday first baseman if the contact quality against major league velocity and breaking balls holds and he keeps the strikeouts in check. The floor is a corner bat who hovers between Triple-A and the big leagues if the swing length and limited defensive value prove too much to overcome.
