Matthew Lugo
Hitting scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Versatile righthanded bench player or low-end regular in majors if plate discipline improvements continue and power develops with additional physical maturation. Best fit as multi-positional outfielder (LF/CF/RF capable) with utility value at multiple positions. Could carve out career as fourth outfielder or occasional starter depending on whether emerging power tool gains consistency. Intelligent, hard-working player with exceptional makeup suggests reasonable probability of establishing sustainable major league role, though ceiling likely capped by lack of elite athleticism or carrying tool. Trajectory of improvement in discipline and approach suggests continued development potential even at relatively advanced career stage. Organizational confidence evidenced by inclusion on 40-man roster and patient developmental approach suggests they view him as part of franchise future.
