Blake Burkhalter
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
The most likely path is as a major-league middle-to-setup reliever whose fastball-cutter combination plays up in shorter outings. The four-seamer has enough carry to challenge at the top of the zone, while the hard cutter is a reliable in-zone weapon that can limit damage when his release is on time. Tommy John surgery and an effortful delivery create durability and command questions, and the lack of a clearly plus third pitch limits the rotation ceiling. If he sustains the improved strike throwing shown in 2026 and sharpens the changeup or breaking-ball separation, he can hold a meaningful bullpen role; otherwise the floor is a shuttle reliever.
