Mason Miller
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Elite closer with multi-year All-Star potential at current trajectory. Should maintain elite velocity and effectiveness as reliever given age, stuff, and recent performance levels. Durability and health management paramount given mechanical considerations and prior injury. Ceiling limited to perennial All-Star reliever rather than generational talent due to injury history and mechanical flags. Conversion to starting pitcher possible but uncertain given limited experience, durability concerns, and mechanical quirks. Greater risk if moved to rotation, but Padres' organizational success converting relievers to starters adds uncertainty. Most likely outcome is establishment as elite closer in baseball over next 3-4 years with team control advantage through 2029.
