Jacob Steinmetz
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Steinmetz still projects more as a back-end starter than a high-end rotation piece because the ingredients are better than the execution. The fastball/curveball foundation gives him a path to miss bats, but the command and overall efficiency have been too inconsistent to forecast a clean climb to a mid-rotation role. If the delivery tightens and the strike throwing settles into at least fringe-average territory, he has enough stuff and starter experience to reach the majors as a usable depth starter or swingman. The floor remains a reliever or organization arm if the walks continue to cap his innings and his third pitch does not take a step.
