Jackson Ferris

Pitching scouting report · 80Grade

Scouting summary

Ferris still has a realistic path to a major-league rotation through the strength of the slider, the carry and extension on his fastball, and his history of missing bats as a starter. The present floor is lower than the original projection because the fastball has backed up into the low-to-mid-90s, the changeup and curveball are not reliable for strikes, and command has deteriorated across two consecutive seasons. If he restores the 92-95 mph velocity band, tightens the delivery and develops one consistent third pitch, he can settle as a durable back-end or occasional No. 4 starter. Without those improvements, a bullpen conversion or shuttle role is the more likely outcome.

Projected MLB role: up-down #5 starter
