Cole Messina
Hitting scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Messina projects as a defense-capable catcher whose path to the majors runs through keeping the receiving and throwing playable while the bat settles in as average or a tick below. The ceiling is a regular catcher who gives you competent defense and enough offensive competence to avoid being a liability, while the floor is a backup type if the hit tool stalls against upper-level pitching. His best route to a big-league role is continued refinement of contact quality and pitch recognition, not a major physical transformation.
