Owen Murphy
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Murphy projects as a back-end rotation candidate whose path depends on recovering and maintaining his pre-surgery strike-throwing consistency. The low-90s fastball has enough ride to play better than its velocity, while the slider gives him an above-average second weapon and the curveball provides a contrasting look. His ceiling rises toward a durable No. 4 starter if the delivery remains synchronized and the changeup becomes a trustworthy third strike-thrower; the floor is a swingman or shuttle starter if walks and home runs continue to appear together. He has already demonstrated enough repertoire depth for a major-league opportunity, but the current evidence does not support a more aggressive projection.
