Carson Messina
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Messina’s best path is likely in relief, where a lively fastball and a slider that has drawn swings and misses can play in shorter bursts. He has reached the upper 90s, but his Low-A average was around 93 mph, and the current evidence does not establish dependable command or a changeup that would support a starter projection. If he can improve strike-throwing, keep the breaking pitches sharp, and remain healthy, he could reach an up-and-down bullpen role; otherwise, control and workload concerns could limit him to organizational depth.
