Karson Milbrandt

Pitching scouting report · 80Grade

Scouting summary

Milbrandt has a legitimate major-league relief foundation in a mid-90s high-spin fastball, a quality slider or cutter, and enough additional breaking-ball variation to avoid being purely two-pitch dependent. The 2026 lower-level success supports the possibility of a useful starter or swingman, but the severe Triple-A regression, particularly the 50 walks and 12 home runs in 60 innings, makes a rotation projection difficult to trust today. If he improves strike efficiency, preserves velocity deeper into outings and gives the changeup a real role against lefties, he could reach a back-end rotation or multi-inning profile. Without those gains, his strongest route is a setup-relief role built around fastball-slider quality and shorter outings.

Projected MLB role: up-down setup reliever
