Brock Rodden
Hitting scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Given his age, limited physical projection and modest carrying tools, Rodden most realistically projects as a versatile up-and-down infielder who can contribute in spurts when his contact skills and instincts are locked in. The ceiling is something like a second-division regular or strong utility player if the hit tool plays closer to average and he continues to tap into enough gap power to avoid being a true slap hitter. The floor is an upper-minors depth piece whose lack of loud tools prevents him from grabbing a long-term major league role if the bat proves more fringe against top-flight pitching. To reach the upper end of that range he will need to maintain good conditioning, keep his swing compact against better velocity, and demonstrate reliability at multiple infield spots so a staff can trust him as a matchup-neutral bench option.
