Chandler Simpson
Hitting scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Simpson represents highly unusual offensive profile combining elite speed and contact ability with complete absence of power. At established major league level, projects as regular centerfielder capable of batting .280-.300 while stealing 40+ bases annually. If defensive reads continue improving, floor includes solid defensive player with elite baserunning value. Ceiling depends on continued defensive development, potentially reaching average defender status. Most likely outcome is skilled utility player or fourth outfielder if defensive struggles persist, with best-case scenario as everyday centerfielder with speed and contact carrying team offensively. Cannot be counted on for power production or RBI generation, making him best suited in context of organization with strong run-scoring approach. Comparable archetype to speedy contact hitters of past decades who thrived in different era of baseball.
