Peyton Olejnik

Pitching scouting report · 80Grade

Scouting summary

Olejnik has the ingredients of a usable pro arm because the size creates deception, the fastball has enough life in the low 90s, and the slider gives him a legitimate bat-missing weapon. The path to an MLB role runs through better strike throwing and a more reliable third pitch, because the walk totals and the pro ERA/WHIP levels point to a margin for error that is still fairly thin. If the changeup comes along enough to keep left-handed hitters honest, he can fit as a depth starter or multi-inning relief option; if not, the likelihood tilts toward bullpen work. The ceiling is limited by present command and average raw velocity, but the combination of angle and a breaking ball gives him a real chance to reach the majors in some capacity.

Projected MLB role: up-down long reliever
