Sammy Hernandez
Hitting scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Likely outcome is a rotation or reserve catcher capable of handling a pitching staff and providing competent at-bats with an on-base lean. Hit tool and plate discipline give him a chance to reach the majors if the contact quality holds against upper-minors arms. Shortfall in power and merely adequate defense limit his ceiling, placing pressure on his OBP and game-calling to carry value. With continued incremental gains, he could settle into a second-division backup or timeshare role rather than a locked-in everyday catcher.
