Garrett Baumann
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Given his size, innings history, and three-pitch mix, Baumann projects most realistically as a back-end starter who can provide bulk if command ticks up a notch. The ceiling is a durable #4 if the fastball and changeup both play solid-average and the slider becomes a more reliable weapon versus righties, but recent struggles at Double- and Triple-A temper that optimism. His floor is a long reliever or up-down depth arm, especially if home run issues persist and he cannot consistently locate to the edges. Development will hinge on sharpening fastball command, maintaining velocity through outings, and more confidently deploying the changeup to keep lefties from sitting on his heater.
