Nathan Flewelling
Hitting scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Flewelling has a legitimate chance to advance as a bat-oriented catcher because the combination of patience, left-handed contact ability, and developing power gives him an offensive foundation that can carry a demanding defensive profile. The 2026 jump in home-run production is encouraging, but it needs to be sustained against stronger pitching, and the elevated strikeout rate keeps the hit tool below average until his breaking-ball contact improves. His ceiling is a second-division regular if the receiving, blocking, and game-management components settle into playable form; the floor is a reserve or upper-level catching role if the bat remains too streaky or the defense forces a move down the spectrum. Continued physical maturation and repetition should help, but there is no basis yet for an everyday projection with confidence.
