Connor Wietgrefe

Pitching scouting report · 80Grade

Scouting summary

Wietgrefe looks like a lower-variance lefty with a real chance to fill the back end of a rotation if the command and pitch shapes hold against better hitters. The stuff is not loud enough to project much more than that, but his ability to create deception, work with multiple fastball looks, and land enough strikes gives him a path to major-league starts. The floor is useful depth as a swingman or spot starter, and if the changeup or breaking ball backs up even a little, the profile can still survive in a long-relief role. The ceiling is limited by the lack of a true bat-missing fastball, so the most realistic outcome is a fringe-average starter or innings-eating lefty.

Projected MLB role: #5 starter
