Parker Smith

Pitching scouting report · 80Grade

Scouting summary

Given the combination of a low-90s sinker, usable four-seam, two distinct breaking balls, and a promising but inconsistent changeup, the most realistic outcome is a multi-inning bullpen role that leans on ground balls and a different look. The ceiling is a back-end starter if the changeup command catches up and he tightens his strike-throwing against upper-level hitters, but current High-A performance and delivery effort temper that optimism. Command grades out more solid than precise, so a shorter-stint role where he can air out 93–96 and simplify the mix to the best three pitches makes sense. His durability and makeup give him a strong chance to reach the high minors and log bulk innings, with an “up-down” long-relief profile the conservative big league projection. Any jump will likely come from sharpening the slider into a more consistent bat-misser or unlocking better feel for the changeup as a true weapon versus lefties.

Projected MLB role: up-down long reliever
