Ivan Luciano
Hitting scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Luciano has the offensive foundation and catcher background to remain a prospect, but the overall profile still looks more like a bat-first backup catcher than a true everyday regular. The on-base ability is real, and if the swing gains a little more impact without sacrificing the walk rate, he can become a useful major league option. The likely path is improvement in the lower minors followed by a role that leans on receiving and game management, with offense that is good enough to support a reserve catcher profile. The floor is that the power never fully catches up and he settles into an upper-minors depth role.
