Lucas Braun
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Braun projects as a depth starter with a realistic chance to reach the majors in a fifth-starter or swingman capacity. His repeatable workload, broad pitch mix, and ability to throw strikes give him a relatively solid floor, while the lack of premium velocity limits the ceiling and leaves little margin for command lapses. The path to a rotation role requires the slider and sinker to consistently miss enough bats while the changeup and cutter keep opposite-handed hitters from sitting on the fastball. If the secondary pitches play closer to average against major-league hitters, he can provide useful innings; otherwise, a multi-inning relief role is the more likely fallback.
