Billy Carlson

Scouting summary
Carlson’s path to an everyday role is built on defense first, with the bat needing to become competent enough to avoid being exposed by the premium-shortstop bar. The glove and arm are strong enough that he should remain on the left side, and if the bat settles into a low-impact but playable on-base profile, he can hold down shortstop for a winning club. The ceiling still depends on whether his present contact-and-walk foundation grows into at least modest game power. If that power never arrives, he still has a chance to be a valuable regular because the defensive value at short is loud enough to carry a lighter bat.
