Ethan Dorchies

Pitching scouting report · 80Grade

Scouting summary

Given his age, starter usage, and early success at lower levels, he projects as a potential back-end to mid-rotation starter if the command and fastball life continue to develop. The most realistic outcome is a durable #4 type who can log innings with an average fastball, usable secondaries and solid strike-throwing. If he adds a tick of velocity, sharpens one breaking ball into a true plus weapon, and cleans up the finish of his delivery, there is some chance he approaches #3 starter value. The downside is a generic middle reliever if starting command stalls or the changeup never becomes a consistent third pitch. Continued performance against age-appropriate competition and health over multiple seasons will be critical in clarifying which path he follows.

Projected MLB role: up-down #4 starter
