Juan Carela
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Given the current stuff and command profile, he most realistically projects as a depth arm with a chance to grow into a long or middle reliever if the slider and fastball command sharpen. If the changeup makes a tangible jump and control stabilizes at solid-average, there is an outside path to a back-end starter look, but that is a more optimistic outcome. More conservative expectation is a pitcher who can provide innings in the upper minors and possibly shuttle in a low-leverage role. Continued health, incremental velocity retention, and refinement of at least one secondary will dictate whether he can surpass an organizational depth label.
