Juan Burgos
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Given his age-relative-to-level and current status as a Triple-A and MLB relief arm, he profiles as a depth bullpen piece with a chance to shuttle between levels. The raw fastball power and ability to manipulate the ball with sink and cut give him enough stuff to miss bats when command is on time, but the inconsistency in results and relatively modest strikeout rates temper expectations. With incremental gains in fastball location and more confident use of the slider, he could settle into a low-leverage middle-relief role on a contending staff. Without that improvement, he is more likely to function as an up-down reliever who provides coverage but not sustained impact. Durability appears sufficient for that role, so the path forward hinges on honing execution rather than adding pure stuff.
