Daniel Palencia
Pitching scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
High-leverage reliever with potential to develop into long-term franchise closer. Elite fastball paired with plus slider creates strong foundation for sustained success in relief roles. 2025 season established him as primary closer and important postseason piece despite recent shoulder injury. Long-term durability concerns warrant monitoring but overall trajectory remains positive if injury proves manageable. With team control through 2031, represents significant value if command improvements sustain and physical durability remains intact. Could become Cubs' first long-term closer of genuine quality in nearly two decades.
