Carlos Virahonda

Scouting summary
Given his age-20 success in A-ball and organizational prospect status, Virahonda projects most realistically as a defense-first backup catcher with some offensive utility. The path to that role runs through continued improvement in receiving, game-calling, and controlling the running game while keeping his contact and gap power at least fringe-average. Limited physical projection and only modest offensive upside cap his ceiling short of everyday duties, but his position scarcity and competence on both sides of the ball provide a plausible route to major-league time. If the bat stalls or defensive refinement lags, he could settle as upper-minors depth who shuttles between Triple-A and short stints in the big leagues.
