Asbel Gonzalez
Hitting scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Gonzalez looks like a speed-and-defense prospect with enough bat-to-ball skill and walk support to stay relevant if the power never arrives. The stolen-base totals are loud, and the combination of range, athleticism, and enough on-base ability gives him a plausible path to the majors as a reserve center fielder and pinch-running option. The ceiling is capped by light in-game power and only modest present impact against better pitching, so the offensive bar is high for him to become more than a bench piece. If the hit tool settles in a bit more and he adds just enough strength to turn some singles into doubles, he could stretch into a more useful role, but the conservative outcome is a glove-first, speed-driven bench player.
