Lucas Spence
Hitting scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Given his age, performance track record, and athletic base, Spence projects as a versatile left-handed hitting outfielder with a realistic path to a role as a strong-side platoon or up-down fourth outfielder. The combination of plus speed, above-average defense, and real on-base skill gives him multiple avenues to contribute even if the game power settles near fringe-average. The key swing-development question is how much loft and pull-side impact he can unlock without sacrificing his contact and approach; incremental gains here could push him toward a steadier bench role. If the bat stalls against upper-level left-handers or the power never fully materializes, he may top out as a Quad-A type and organizational depth, but his athleticism and makeup offer him several chances to clear that bar.
