Juan Matheus
Hitting scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Matheus has a plausible path as a versatile organizational infielder who reaches the upper minors through contact, on-base ability, speed, and defensive flexibility. The ceiling is a second-division or utility-level major-league role if the switch-hitting bat remains playable against upper-level pitching and his hands and footwork allow him to handle second base consistently. His floor is lower because the frame offers limited power, the arm is not clearly strong enough to support shortstop or third base as a full-time home, and the 2026 transition across levels has produced uneven offensive results. Continued strength gains, strike-zone discipline, and reliable middle-infield defense are the clearest routes to an up-and-down or bench opportunity.
