Given his age, signing bonus, and early performance, Peña projects as a bat-first infielder with a chance to stick at shortstop if his actions continue to firm up. Realistically, he is several years away and more likely to settle into a role somewhere on the dirt, with second base or third base possible if range or consistency becomes an issue. Offensively, a realistic outcome is a hitter with average contact and on-base ability and fringe-average game power, enough to contribute if the defense holds at an up-the-middle spot.
