Joniel Hernandez
Hitting scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Hernandez has a promising offensive starting point for a 17-year-old, with a strong on-base record, manageable strikeout totals, and enough present impact to produce extra-base hits and home runs in the DSL. The developmental path depends heavily on translating that approach against higher-quality fastballs and breaking pitches while proving he has the feet, hands, and internal clock to remain at shortstop. The likely floor is an organizational infielder if the defensive tools do not emerge; the more favorable outcome is a contact-oriented utility or second-division player if his bat and infield actions both progress. Because there is no verified public tool-grade consensus or full-season minor-league track record, expectations should remain guarded.
