Grady Emerson
Hitting scouting report · 80Grade
Scouting summary
Emerson has the foundation of an everyday major league shortstop because the hit tool, athletic profile, and premium defensive position all give him multiple paths to value. His amateur performance was exceptional, but the early pro sample is appropriately treated as a reminder that the transition will involve sharper velocity, more consistent breaking balls, and a longer schedule; the .176/.283/.216 line should be monitored without overriding the established track record. The most likely path is gradual refinement of swing timing and defensive consistency while adding controlled strength, with an everyday floor if he remains at shortstop and a higher ceiling if power develops beyond the current projection.
