Backroads and Ballfields: Mississippi State Lands Lefty Greyson Bell
By Daniel Wilson ·
Bell Picks Starkville
Mississippi State's 2028 class added a left-hander on Oct. 21. Greyson Bell, a pitcher and first baseman at Daniel Boone Area High School in Douglassville, Pa., committed to the Bulldogs, joining a group that already includes right-handers Caleb Paul and Luke McKenna.
Bell bats and throws left. He took official visits to Arkansas, South Carolina and Tennessee before picking Starkville, he told Steve Robertson of Genespage on 247Sports.
"I got it down to four schools where I felt like I could belong anywhere," Bell told Robertson. "I took those visits and Mississippi State came out on top."
He also explained what tipped it. "It was really the environment and relationships there," he said. "I said from the day one that relationships were the most important thing to me. I stayed true with that the whole way. And, there is nothing like watching or playing a game at Dudy Noble Field."
The Sophomore Year
Bell went 6-1 with a 1.01 ERA as a sophomore last spring, with 75 strikeouts and 14 walks. He allowed 12 hits all season.
His best night came on May 7 in the Berks County league quarterfinals. Pitching for the seventh-seeded Blazers against second-seeded Oley Valley, he threw a no-hitter on 97 pitches with 16 strikeouts and two walks. Daniel Boone won 2-0 after scoring both runs on wild pitches in the top of the seventh.
"After the fifth, I was like, 'Alright, I got a chance,'" Bell told the Reading Eagle afterward.
In July the Pennsylvania State Baseball Coaches Association named him a first-team Class 5A all-state pitcher. He was the only sophomore among the five pitchers on that team.
The Arm
His fastball max on record is 93.8 mph, measured on TrackMan at Prep Baseball's All-American Game on Sept. 18, where he sat 91.9 to 93.6. He also showed a curveball at 80 to 81 mph that day, and his profile lists a slider and changeup in the low to mid 80s.
He has pitched for USA Baseball too. He was in the 2025 15U National Team training camp, and USA Baseball later listed him among the 15U players who won gold at the WBSC U-15 Pan American Championship in Mexico.
He's one of the top left-handers in the 2028 class on our board.

Paul, from Chaminade-Madonna in Florida, committed on Oct. 8. McKenna, a 6-foot-6 right-hander from Shawnee Mission South in Kansas, followed. Bell gives the Bulldogs a left-hander to go with them.
