Chase Hampton

Pitching scouting report · 80Grade

Scouting summary

The pre-surgery version of Hampton had a legitimate chance to develop as a back-end starter because the fastball played above its raw velocity and the slider and curveball both flashed average-or-better quality. The current path is less certain: his 2026 fastball has often sat in the low 90s, his command has backed up sharply, and he has not yet demonstrated the workload needed to answer the durability question. A healthy return of mid-90s velocity and average strike throwing could restore a meaningful multi-inning role, but the safer projection is a middle-relief or up-and-down outcome. Rebuilding release consistency, fastball command and workload tolerance will determine whether he can move back toward a rotation track.

Projected MLB role: up-down reliever
